Mental Health Innovator
I'm Mark and I established Conversations With Impact because I feel strongly that coaching and therapy must have an impact and make a difference.
Sounds Obvious doesn't it?
However, in my experience too many clients finish working with their therapist or life coach no further forward and are financially worse off.

Conversations With IMPACT is built on a simple belief: better conversations create better lives.
Through coaching, therapy, and The IMPACT Model, I help people change the conversations that shape how they think, behave, feel and relate to others, and move forward.
Alongside individual client work, I provide mental health and wellbeing training, coaching, and consultancy to organisations of all sizes.
Don't be held back

At the risk of sounding cliched, I really do have a passion for supporting people to turn their lives around. This passion comes from knowing that what I do can be life-changing and sometimes life-saving.
My identity as a practitioner is shaped by my own experiences and those of the people I work with. Before my current career, I worked in National Press advertising in the mid-to-late 1990s. My life took a destructive path during this time, and my mental health deteriorated. A coach/therapist, amongst others, helped me put my life back together.
While still working in advertising, putting my life back together began with volunteering for a charity in South East London. The charity, which offered respite to families with children living with conditions such as autism, proved to be the start of my new career. I realised that volunteering gave me a sense of meaning and purpose that my advertising career did not.
After a period of living in France, I returned to England and spent the next few years working in mental health as a Mental Health Advocate for the charity MIND. In July 2005, I qualified as a therapist and began a fifteen-year career working in Higher Education (thirteen for De Monfort University, two for Derby University) as a student coach and therapist. For over a decade and a half, I was privileged to work with some inspirational students and staff.
From 2007 to 2010, I also worked in the Employee Assistance Industry, where another passion of mine, supporting people in business, developed. I saw first-hand what a difference life coaching and therapy could make to employee mental health and wellness in the workplace. In 2015, I qualified as an executive coach, and in 2016, I set up Conversations With Impact. In 2018, I decided that my business would be my future and decided to leave Higher Education.
My real strength is as someone who can provide both personal and professional coaching and therapy. Importantly, I know how to safely combine both forms of support because, for many people, their issues do not fall neatly into any one personal or professional category. However, I am just as happy keeping the two approaches separate.
"I have a strong belief in myself. One of the best, if not the best, predictors for successful client outcomes is the belief a practitioner has in themselves and their approach. Research suggests that clients need their practitioner to have these high levels of confidence if they are to overcome their difficulties."
From the first session, my clients get to shape our work together in a way that suits them – not me. In other words, I don’t offer a one-size-fits-all model to being a life coach or therapist, but work collaboratively with clients to find one that is right for them. My extensive professional development means I am familiar with multiple approaches, such as CBT, solution-focused therapy/coaching, hypnotherapy, mindfulness and narrative. However, it is through my IMPACT Model that I can offer a form of support that is truly unique. My book, How to Transform Your Life with IMPACT: Unlock the Best of You, which my clients inspired, was published in August 2021 and achieved Amazon bestseller status on launch, with the second edition coming out in April 2024.

I am an Accredited therapist with the National Counselling Society. I am on the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register of the NCS and am registered with Disclosure and Barring Service (enhanced). As a coach, I trained with the Performance Coach, and I am a European Mentoring and Coaching Council Accredited Practitioner. From 2015 to 2018, I belonged to the EMCC UK Academic Members Forum, which promotes the use of coaching in Higher Education.
Away from work, I love walking in the Peak District and am very happy drinking a pint of real ale and enjoying eating and cooking Indian food.”
